Velocity is a live video platform with three modes: Interactive Sessions, Live Streaming, and Interactive Live Streaming. In every mode, recording and live streaming are controlled by the Host of the session or stream, not by Velocity. This notice explains what that means for everyone who takes part: Hosts, Guests, Viewers, and Listeners.
A session is not recorded automatically. Recording only takes place if and when the Host starts it. When recording is not running, no recording of the session is being produced by Velocity.
When a Host records or live streams a session, the people who take part may be captured. This can include camera video, audio, screen shares and other shared sources, and messages sent in the session. Live streaming and Interactive Live Streaming additionally deliver the session to an audience in real time. If you join a session, please assume that recording or streaming may be active.
Velocity may display a recording or live indicator in the interface while an output is active. The availability of an automatic indicator can vary by mode and device, so it should not be relied on as the only way to know whether a session is being recorded or streamed. If you are unsure, ask the Host.
The Host is responsible for informing participants that a session is being recorded or streamed and for obtaining any consent or permissions required by law before doing so. This includes rights relating to people's image, voice, and personal data (for example under the GDPR and applicable national law). If you are a Host, you must handle this before you start recording or streaming.
Hosts must not secretly record people, or record or stream anyone without the lawful basis or permissions required by law. Secret or unlawful recording or streaming is prohibited and may lead to removal of content and account termination. See the recording and streaming rules in our Terms of Use.
Where recording is provided, recordings are stored privately by default and access is protected: shared recordings are delivered through short-lived, access-controlled links rather than public storage URLs. The Host controls their recordings, including downloading, sharing, and deleting them. Recordings are retained according to the retention period set for them and are removed after it expires. A Host may choose to restream a live session to third-party platforms (for example via an RTMP destination the Host configures). Those platforms are controlled by the Host, not by Velocity, and are subject to the platforms' own terms and privacy practices, which are outside our control.
If you do not agree to the Host's recording or streaming setup for a session, please do not join, or leave the session. Continuing to take part while recording or streaming is active means you are participating in that recording or stream.
